19th June, Balloon Ride Bury St Edmunds

On this wonderful summer evening the balloon ride was from Nowton Park in Bury St Edmunds.

Launching in very gentle winds the balloon climbed up to 2500' for passengers to soak up the Suffolk countryside layed out below them.

After staying high to avoid the livestock below the balloon then decended for passengers to enjoy some low level flying. After one hour & fifteen minutes the flight ended at Great Barton.

17th June, Brome Hot Air Balloon Flight

Once again the weather proved kind this evening.

As passengers arrived excited as to what was to follow, the balloon was prepared for flight. After launching at 19.40 passengers were able to enjoy stunning views across Norfolk as the balloon travelled north. Unfortunately all good things come to an end and the flight this evening landed on a grass meadow in Tivetshall St Mary.

13th June, Brome Hot Air Balloon Flight

Thirteen proved a lucky number for those ten passengers who were booked on this evenings flight.

Taking off at 19.30 the balloon floated away from The Cornwallis Hotel travelling over Diss. After nearly an hour in the air the balloon landed at Boyland Common. As is customary after the flight , passengers enjoyed their post flight celebrations.

10th June, Balloon Ride from Bury St Edmunds

An early morning balloon ride is the perfect way to start the day. Launching from Nowton Park the balloon was airbourne at 06.00

This morning there was lots of what is called steerage. This is when there is large changes of direction of wind at different height allowing the pilot to steer across the sky. After an hour in the air the flight concluded with a very gentle landing at High Rougham.

5th June, Flight from The Cornwallis Hotel

This mornings flight took place from our launch site at Brome between Diss and Eye on the Suffolk & Norfolk border.

Upon take off the passengers were treated to amazing views across both Suffolk and Norfolk. Travelling in a north easterly direction the balloon gently drifted over places such as Scole and Pulham Market before a soft landing was made in Hardwick after an hour in the air.

23rd May, Balloon Ride from Brome

On this beautiful warm evening the flight launched from The Cornwallis Hotel.

Travelling in a southerly direction, the balloon drifted over Eye with its castle ruins in full view, Occold and Thorndon before landing in the parish of Page's Green.

 

16th May, Nowton Park Hot Air Balloon Flight

After a spell poor conditions, ten excited passengers were able to enjoy a flight this evening from Nowton Park in Bury St Edmunds

After final checks were made the balloon lifted off and travelled in a south easterly direction over Sicklesmere, Bradfield Woods and Felsham before landing at Rattlesden Airfield.

7th April, Balloon Ride from The Cornwallis Hotel

The flight this evening was scheduled from the wonderful grounds of The Cornwallis Hotel at Brome between Diss and Eye. Upon launch passengers were able to enjoy far reaching views as far as the coast.

After travelling over towns and villages such as Eye, Occold and Debenham the flight came to an end in the parish of Winston Green.

1st April, Balloon Flight from Bury St Edmunds

The recent stunning weather continued for our flight from Nowton Park. Under a cloudless sky our passengers enjoyed a gentle hot air balloon flight in a south easterly direction.

Travelling over villages such as Sicklesmere and Little Whelnetham all good things must come to an end and the flight ended with a gentle landing at Rattlesden airfield.

30th March, Balloon Flight from Bury St Edmunds

Another flight took place this evening from Nowton Park. Once the passengers had arrived and been welcomed by their pilot the safety briefing commenced. Once completed the inflation took place. People are often amazed by the impressive size of the balloon when they see it close up.

Once airbourne the balloon travelled in an easterly direction drifting over Rougham and Hessett before landing at Chilton Fields Sports Club after an hour in the air.

27th March, Balloon Ride from Bury St Edmunds

Nowton Park is a fantastic location from which to see the historic town of Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding countryside.

The ten passengers booked onto this afternoons flight were rewarded with another stunning day to go flying. Travelling gently in a westerly directionafter leaving Nowton Park the balloon drifted over the stunning National Trust property of Ickworth House and its beautiful park land before a very gentle landing near Chevington.

23rd March, Balloon Flight from Brome

The Cornwallis Country Hotel is a stunning location from which to start a hot air balloon ride.

The weather in early Spring was very kind last year and March in 2012 is proving no exception so our passengers this evening were looking forward to seeing the Suffolk and Norfolk landscape.

The winds were light this evening and the balloon gently drifted over Diss and Roydon before landing in a meadow at Bressingham.

15th March, Balloon Ride from Bury St Edmunds

As the glorious Spring weather continued ten eager passengers arrived at Nowton Park for their ballooning adventure. After the safety briefing had been completed and the balloon inflated we took off flying in a North Easterly direction.

After travelling over villages such as Pakenham, Ixworth, Stanton and Market Weston the balloon eventually landed in Hopton near the Suffolk/Norfolk border after nearly an hour in the air. After the balloon was packed away passengers celebrated their flight whilst being treated to a beautiful Suffolk sunset.

11th March, First Flight of 2012

The 2012 season commenced this afternoon with a flight from Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds. Launching into clear blue skies quite a crowd of people enjoying the glorious weather assembled to watch our launch.

Drifting in a South Easterly direction the balloon passed over the villages of Sicklesmere, Bradfield St Clare and Cockfield.

18th February, 2012 Flying Season Starts Soon

The 2012 flying season commences on Saturday 3rd March. The past two years have provided some fantastic flying opprtunities in early Spring so don't delay to book onto a flight.

Thursday 20th October, Hot Air Balloon Ride from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk,

Our balloon flight this afternoon launched from the stunning surroundings of Nowton Park. The park consists of almost 200 acres of beautiful Suffolk countryside, landscaped over 100 years ago in typical Victorian style with many country estate features remaining.

Upon launch our passengers were treated to fantastic visibility with the pilot pointing out clearly defined landmarks such as Ely Cathedral and the entire Suffolk coastline.

As the balloon travelled in a south easterly direction passengers gazed out at the countryside layed out before them like a giant tapestry. After an hour in the air the balloon landed close to Great Finborough.

 

Sunday 16th October, Balloon Flight from Chilford Hall, Linton, Cambridgeshire

For the second time today our hot air balloon rose into the sky.

Upon leaving Chilford Hall passengers were greeted with unresricted views of the surrounding rolling chalk hills of Cambridgeshire as we drifted slowly overhead. Whilst surveying the scenery passengers were treated to a flypast of a Spitfire aircraft returning to the nearby Imperial War Museum at Duxford.

After passing over the open countryside, the balloon landed close to the village of Little Thurlow. Passengers then enjoyed their post flight celebrations as the sun slowly slipped away.

 

Sunday 16th October, Hot Air Balloon Flight from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

Conditions were suitable for flying this morning for our balloon ride from our Bury St Edmunds launch site, Nowton Park. As the balloon was being prepared for flight, passengers looked on in anticipation of their adventure to follow.

Once in the air a shallow layer of mist hung in the low lying areas of the Suffolk countryside spread out below. Drifting silently (apart from the odd blast from the burners) on the gentle wind the balloon travelled in a north easterly direction flying over the villages of Rougham, Beyton and Norton before landing in a field between Elmswell and Great Ashfield.

Passengers then toasted their flight in the traditional manner with a glass of bubbly. Time to celebrate a fantastic morning.

 

Saturday 15th October, Hot Air Balloon Ride from Brome, Suffolk

 

This morning’s balloon flight saw ten eager passengers meet at the beautiful surroundings of The Cornwallis Country Hotel at Brome near Diss for their aerial adventure over the Suffolk and Norfolk countryside

.

  

Once the safety briefing and inflation had been completed the balloon rose majestically skyward.  Once airborne, the balloon travelled in a north westerly direction, passengers waving to those looking up enviously from below as we passed overhead the towns of Diss and Attleborough before landing near Deopham Green after an hour in the air.

After the balloon was packed away, passengers celebrated their flight with a glass of bubbly (or fruit juice) as they shared the morning’s highlights with fellow passengers, friends and family.
